Visit to National Research Centre of Seed Spices (NRCSS), Ajmer

B.Tech. Biotechnology programme is designed to meet the ever changing scenario in the field of Biotechnology. Organization of industrial and institutional visits helps the students to develop research temperament, orientation skills and to practically observe Biotechnological processes. To fulfill these, a visit to National Research Centre of Seed Spices (NRCSS), Ajmer was organized for the IV and VI semester students of B.Tech Biotechnology Programme. The main objective of the visit was to make students acquainted with agronomic and biotechnological process involved in processing of seed spices, to observe high yielding varieties of Cumin (Cuminum cyminum), Coriander (Coriandrum sativum), Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum), Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) and Dill (Anethum graveolens) with high essential oil content and resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses and to know about their economic and health importance. Students also visited Mushroom Farms where they observed cultivation of mushrooms. The visit was full of knowledge and fun. .
