The main objective of our B.A. (Hons.) English programme is to empower its students in the theories, methods, and applications of literary and critical thinking in practical contexts to turn them into competent professionals

Our B. A. Hon`s degree prepares and equips the students to gain excellence in such career fields that require intense language competence, and helps the students in career progression as finer points of spoken languages, such as syntax, lexis, grammar, tenses, etc are taught, discussed, researched, and improved. Students also explore the historical and social context of the languages through a deeper study of certain phrases and linguistic eccentricities that are common, or rarely used.

The course analyzes the use of various elements of the language with social theory, focusing on topics like the relationship of language and gender, class, etc thus shaping the social attitudes of the students.

Applying for Admissions 2022-23

B.A. Honors English is a 3-year UG degree course. It is the study in which a student gets an opportunity to learn about the development of English Language, its history, and the literature produced during various ages including the socio-political and cultural insights of the world. The project work is also an important component of this degree.

B.A and B.A (Hons.) are undergraduate courses but the sole difference is very clear in B.A. Hons. The student specializes in one particular subject in English Honors. Like for example English Honours is a thorough and detailed study. The Students will have the opportunity to learnClassical Literature, Contemporary Literature, Modern Indian Literature, Modern European Drama etc.

The course duration is for 3-years split into Six Semesters for the regular course

The basic minimum eligibility for BA English Honors course is - The candidates must have completed the higher secondary exam or equivalent with English and should have scored minimum 50% of marks from a school recognized by an Educational board.

Choice based credit system (Semester wise pattern).

Yes, any student who has passed his/her class 12th in any stream (humanities / commerce / science / social science, etc) is eligible to take admission in this course.

Yes, if your result is awaited you can still apply for this course. However you will have to produce your passing certificate at the time of admission and if you fulfill the prescribed eligibility you can take admission to the course.

Yes, students who have passed their 10 + 2 level examinations before 2020 and satisfy the eligibility conditions can apply for this course.

There is no age bar for the student to apply for this course.

The University gives admission based on Merit, there’s no Entrance Exam but a fixed eligibility criteria is mentioned.

No, there will be no interview for the selection procedure for the session 2020 – 2021.

The fee* for the course is Rs. 78,900/-. The additional security deposit of Rs.2,000/- is refundable (Library Security) one time. *The fees is subject to change.

Yes, 75% attendance is compulsory to appear in the exams.

Yes, every batch has a Mentor/ Class Teacher. Mentor is a Guardian who guides students in their semester-long projects/ dissertations of different disciplines. A Mentor handles the students’ personal as well as academic problems.

Yes, hostel facility is provided to outstation/ international students.

After graduating from BA English Honours, there are a lot of job opportunities in various industries. Some of the industries are: Media and Journalism, Advertising & Marketing, HR/ Administration, Teaching & Research, Hospitality, Publishing, Technical Writers, Translators & Civil Services.

Yes, internship is an important aspect of this course. Some of the organizations where our students have worked as interns are: Teach India, Internshala, Courseera etc etc.

This course has project work as a compulsory component. Students are usually expected to identify the contemporary issues that should be acknowledged for the betterment of society. Students then work out solutions for resolving the problems. They are encouraged to participate in seminars and conferences and present their finding there. Many of our students have participated in different seminars and conferences in India and abroad.

This course also has additional subjects like French, Psychology as compulsory electives. There is an English Language Lab for the improvement in Spoken English.

The aim of this degree is to nurture Entrepreneurship. The University also has a Placement Cell through which numerous students get an opportunity to obtain jobs in various fields. The English Departmental Placement are also handled by the placement cell very efficiently.
