Covid Readiness

Infrastructure and Facilities
The pandemic posed serious problems and challenges as JNU has over 10,000 students, staff, faculty, and many visitors visiting the University daily.

In March 2020, without wasting time, we created quick awareness amongst the visitors, students, faculty members, staff, and parents through

  • Emails
  • SMS
  • University website
  • Personal messages
  • Social Media
  • Campus advertisements
Covid Readiness

Preventive measures were put in place and reviewed daily to boost them further. All guidelines from the Government of India to be COVID-ready were followed closely in terms of

Physical distancing

We made arrangements to help maintain a distance of six feet distance between individuals and modified our way of work suitably with

  • Space layout changes
  • Modifying spaces for interaction
  • Signages
  • Barriers
  • Building access changes

Fumigation and cleaning

Daily fumigation of all areas, facilities, buildings, and much more was carried out. Some of the areas that were disinfected following strict cleaning protocols include:

  • Facilities
  • Hostels
  • Classes and Departments
  • Hand Sanitizer Stations

HVAC Modifications

We modified our air conditioning and ventilation of the buildings to ensure:

  • Enhanced filtration and purification
  • Increased outdoor airflows
  • Extended building operations

Transportation

Visitors’ vehicles and our vehicles coming back inside the campus were treated with utmost care.

Measures taken to prevent the spread of the virus include:

  • Disinfection of all vehicles
  • Provision of alternative modes of transportation
  • Defined pathways on campus

We achieved a zero-infection zone on our campus and hope to keep it that way.

Covid Readiness

JNU has taken a science-based approach to operate and prevent the spread of COVID-19 effectively on-campus. We are further resolved to protect ourselves, our academic and non-academic staff, our students, and our community from the impacts of coronavirus.

The offline classes commenced from 18th January 2021 for PG Program and from 18th Feb 2021 for UG program as per State Govt Instructions.

In fact, we were among the first few Indian universities to do so.

Facility requests

Any special requests to visit the campus or any COVID-19 related installations, modifications, etc. should be routed through the department head to the leadership on priority.
