JNU always gives a platform to its faculty members, students and staff members to interact regularly and engage with
neighbourhood community, Society, NGOs and Welfare organizations for their holistic and sustainable development through
various activities.
The activities involved are: beautification of nearby areas, free medical camps, free legal aids, awareness campaigns
about social issues, tree plantation, care for the birds/ animals, donation of clothes, shoes, blankets, etc. and other
social activities.
Beautification of nearby area
The university has been involved in several initiatives for beautification and improvement of the nearby area, such as,
Jagatpura Flyover, Circle near JNU, etc. The university joined a movement with the Government of Rajasthan to beautify
the flyovers and elevated roads of Jaipur with paintings and murals. They decorated one busy section of the Jaipur-Agra
bypass near the Jagatpura Railway station, under the Jagatpura Flyover. The university installed multiple statues to
showcase the JNU story and imbued a sense of pride towards children, especially the girl child.
Family Adoption program
This is being introduced with the aim of village outreach program for MBBS students. JNU arranged one diagnostic medical
camp in the village wherein identification of: a) anemia, malnutrition in children, hypertension, diabetes mellitus,
ischemic heart diseases, kidney diseases, any other local problems were addressed. If required, patients were also
admitted in the hospital for acute illness under care of student, charges were waived off or provide concession or govt.
schemes. For chronic illness, students were involved. Subsidized treatment charges were provided under govt. schemes or
welfare schemes. Medical student was allocated about 5 families and introduced in the first visit. Camps were also
arranged by Community Medicine/ PSM department with active involvement of Associate/ Asst. Professors, social workers
and supporting staff. Annual follow up diagnostic camps were continued by the PSM department.
Medical Camps
Regular medical camps, physiotherapy sessions are organized in the neighbourhood areas as well as in rural and remote
areas to create awareness among the people and society for communicable diseases, vaccination, cancers, health issues,
women hygiene and sanitation. Students actively participated in vaccination drives during pandemic along with doctors
and willingly perform their duties as a responsible citizen. The services of the specialists from medicine, surgery,
paediatrics, OBGY, ENT, Orthopaedic, Skin & V.D, Anaesthesia, Ophthalmology, and Pathology are provided as per need.
Radio JNU
Community Radio Station operated by JNU, Jaipur broadcasts content to create awareness of the social issues of the
people of the surrounding communities on a regular basis.
